A bit of a grind today

Gallop, NM to Grants, NM: a short day, only 65 miles.
Hit the road at 7 with the temps in the high 30s. Rode up to the continental (7,275 feet).

Then headed to Grants, which is south. Unfortunately the wind was out of the south. Headwinds are tough

OK, not that tough.  They were ~17 mph with gusts up to 28 mph. It was a long and tough 38 miles into town.
We rode all day between 6,500 and 7,200 feet of elevation.
There is little to nothing between Gallop and Grants. We found a small roadside stand selling fry bread and soda.  The fuel was much needed.
We got beautiful views, with Mount Taylor (11,000 feet) off to our left.

Our goal now is to recover and be there when the bell rings tomorrow for our 80 mile ride with some big rollers.

In case you haven't heard, Linda got us separate hotel rooms for the entire trip. Allegedly I snore. Allegedly, she pokes me to get me to stop.
It is different, but kind of neat. It seems like we are dating. I go down to her room to hang out and she does likewise.
We are excited to see each other each morning.
