Bill: The hundreds (miles and temperatures) are behind us for the near term. Today it was a climb day and Linda kicked ass. Each climb I saw her back tire become a dot in the distance. We climbed a bit over 6,800 feet total, on 2 separate climbs. The first climb was just gut it out switch backs through the Yarnell Pass. We then screamed down the hill (one of the mechanics hit 48 mph, I hit a lowly 46).
We all stopped at a wide spot in the road that had a small store with a nice front porch. We ate ice cream and had sodas at 10 in the morning. Then off to the second climb which was a ball. A lot of twists and turns, ups and downs, with really strong winds. The wind advisory said 20 mph winds with gusts between 40 and 50 mph. We came around one corner and the wind almost stopped a few of us in place. With 60 miles under our belt we got into Prescott, AZ ~1 and had a nice lunch at a taco truck.
In the first 5 days we have ridden 450 miles and climbed 17,274 feet.........this is more fun than we thought it would be.
