Too tired to blog

In case we have not told you, we are riding from LA to Boston, 3,400 miles in ~7 weeks (42 days in the saddle).

We heard about this cross country ride during a ride around the finger lakes in NY last summer. We were sitting with a guy we had been riding with who said "You should do that ride". Since he is a psychiatrist, we took the advice of a mental health professional.

Yesterday, we rode to Indio (through Palm Springs, which was beautiful!), 97 miles in the heat (100+ degrees) with some good climbs. Linda got flat #2 about 20 miles before the end and arrived just too tired to think about writing, but so appreciative of all of the kindness I was shown along the way, like fellow biker Sohrab who stopped to help.

Today, more kindness. Another long, hot (97 miles, over 100 degrees) ride and Bill slowed down to keep me company. I was done at mile 78 (at the sag stop), he went on......

.... not looking too tired.

In the flat competition, Bill made his first entry, in the shade at lunch. The score now: Linda 4, Bill 1.

  1. The psychiatrist had actually had a few beers that night and thinks he was joking (!) Keep riding and writing and find some Kevlar tires to decrease the flats. You are living the dream.

  2. Thinking of you guys today as it looked like the Mojave desert ride! Really hope it was without any flats.

    1. Well, if you read the next post, you'll see Bill didn't get out of the Mojave without flats. But we took your advice and have new Gatorskins....so no flats today!!!
