Another Good One
Today's Ride: Hamburg, NY to Victor, NY: 89.5 miles; 4,000 feet of climb
Once again, great weather: sunny, 50 to 70 degrees. Mostly a crosswind, sometimes a headwind.
This part of NY is so beautiful. We rode through a bunch of small towns with thriving downtowns. The terrain is rolling hills, thanks to the glaciers. As we learned on a ride around the Finger Lakes last year, it is more fun to go north and south out here, than east or west. We of course, are headed east.
We surpassed 3,000 miles of pedaling today.

Got to experience another round of miles of road prepared to be repaved. I see the dentist on July 5th, wonder how many fillings will need to be replaced.
At mile 67, 1 mile out of the 2nd SAG, the young mechanic and the British surgeon flew by me. I thought, "one mile, I think I can catch them". Little did I know, the muscle fibers in my legs had a clandestine meeting and overwhelmingly voted to not participate in this short race, without informing the rest of my body. I quickly got to 24 mph, but no matter what I did, I could not go faster. The two riders just got smaller and smaller in the distance. Just another bite of the humility apple.
The pizza in the park with Linda got us recharged for the final 22 miles of rolling hills.
The logistics manager always takes nice pictures of us
What was up with my bike last night? The rear wheel was making an odd noise so the young mechanic and I took it apart to see what was going on. During the disassembly, one of the 24 ball bearings decided to make a break for freedom. We looked for 20 minutes and could not find it
We went to dinner and then it poured rain. I did our blog during the rain. That's why I shared I would use a wheel out of the truck until I could buy the ball bearings. Well, when the rain stopped, the mechanic went out to the truck and there was the ball bearing, right in the middle of a puddle, right behind the truck. Rebuilt the wheel and I rode it today. All is good.
Totals to date:
Miles: 3,017.5
Feet of Climb: 90,493 (I remember every foot)
