Thank you Mayville, MO

Today's ride: Saint Joseph's, MO to Chillocothe, MO: 87 miles; 4,300 feet of climb

Interesting day. Basically rode on a saw blade. Up, Down, Up, Down. Later in the day we had a few hills with grades up to 13%. Temps got into the high 80s, so it is warming up. The pesky wind was out of the east.......as we headed east.

First stop was in Mayville, MO. Population 1,113. They had some of the school children out to greet us.

Then the DeKalb County Historical Society hosted us with homemade cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, coffee and lemonade.

Very friendly folks with a nice museum. In their archive, they have large leather bound books with land abstracts dating back to the civil war.

Yesterday on the Kansas side of the Missouri River, Linda called out the first corn field we have seen to date.

Today, a lot of the corn fields were either flooded or too wet to plant. Difficult time for the farmers out here.

  1. I believe Maysville is where my Aunt and Uncle had a farm.
