They have some hills out here.......with humidity to match

Here is a better photo of yesterday's party for Greg and Tom in Covington, OH

Today's ride: Marysville to Wooster, OH: 98 miles; 4,470 feet of climb

Started out in some sprinkles. Around 5 miles out of town, a friend had a flat;  Linda and I stopped to help. It was a narrow road so we were off in the knee high grass doing the repair. A good old boy in an old pick up stopped to tell us "that is not the best place to do that". He did not seem to catch the irony of him blocking both lanes of traffic to educate us on where we should be.

The first 73 miles were Ohio wonderful: twists and turns, good road surfaces, mellow hills. There was a bridge out, so we took a detour. Rolling down a hill we saw:

Interesting road sign

And a wonderful town sign for our sister-in-law Kathy; the family's Queen of Funk.

The last 25 miles were a bit tougher, with lots of climbs. One rider said 7 of the hills had 10% grade or higher. The humidity was ~85%, which made it a sweaty day. Linda saw one hill had a 15% grade.

As we move east, the towns are much closer together than out west. It may be the route we are on, but the towns also seem more prosperous.

Had a nice steak dinner with one of Linda's college friends, Deb, and her husband Ken.  They are always fun to catch up with.

Two more 90+ mile days, then a rest day.

  1. You guys always manage to have such nice smiles in your pics. Probably a lot of energy expended to do that :-)
Keep it up, Bill and Linda.
