Marfa to Marathon

Rode off in the low 40 degrees into a pesky/pita headwind and then the route added a long up hill.

Stopped at ~27 miles in Alpine, TX. There was a horrific accident just east of town and they closed the road. We ate great cinnamon rolls and had coffee at the Bread and Breakfast.

After ~40 minutes they reopened the road. It was sad to walk our bikes around the tragic accident scene. 

Got going again and the sugar and caffeine kicked in and next thing we know we are at the 47 miles SAG stop.

Short 57 mile ride today. We are staying 2 nights in Marathon, which looks like another nice west TX town.

Tomorrow is a lay over day, so we look forward to enjoying walking around town and resting.
