Hidalgo Camp to Shepherd

89+ miles, 3,600 feet of climb, significant heads winds and rain.
A fun day, great ride.
Rode through the Sam Houston national forest. Beautiful.
So glad to be surrounded by green (trees and plants) instead of the brown desert of previous weeks.
The rain was a nice one that helped keep us cool.
Ended the ride at a funky campground that caterers to an eclectic crowd. There are small cabins and lots of grass to camp. We did the tents, as there was a lot more room.
We enjoyed our first shower together in this outdoor shower

The bathrooms were also a bit breezy, as they were also outdoors.
Since we eat every meal outside (love it), here is where we hung out and had dinner and breakfast. This is one of those places where they buy something and then hang it on a wall or from the ceiling.
It is owned and mgd by a couple of older women and it is a labor of love for them.
Long trains make for nice rests.
