Marathon to Sanderson
Short ride of 55 miles today. Another pesky head wind. Come on Texas, how about some prevailing westerlies?
Rolling along and a fellow rider pointed out in a field of cows.....
With 35 riders, we have quite a diverse group. Here are our fastest 4. They ride everyday in a tight pace line and can fly.
As with last tour, they are really nice folks that also happen to be excellent athletes. The guy in the right side of the picture hiked the entire Appalachian Trial before joining the ride. His "training" is working out.
We have a graduates of UNC and Vilanova, so it will be an interesting final four tonight.
Staying in Sanderson, TX, town of ~800. They have a little restaurant where the servers wear their guns for all to see. We stopped at a small coffee shop instead.
Folks that live here allegedly have 2 choices for groceries: one is ~55 miles away, the other is ~120 miles away. We are officially in the middle of nowhere.
Wait staff wearing guns at a restaurant, huh? Maybe I should have tried that approach to our pricing discussions back in the day; I might have won one or two LOL ...
ReplyDeleteThanks JSK .
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit different there. Largest county in TX by size and only a sheriff and 2 deputies.
We later spoke with some locals and they shared they carry to kill snakes and other varmit.
